Tai Pak at Castle Peak,1972

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1972

This is the last of the pics I took in 1972. If this was now, I'd have taken jillions of pics without a care, but film wasn't really cheap anywhere, and my funds were running a bit low by the time I got here (I'd been in Japan), so something really had to stand out in my eyes to take a photo by then.

This is just about the last of the photos I have from HK. This was a stop on a NT tour I went on. There was a small souvenir stand nearby, and I bought an english-language copy of Mao's little red book there. Do I misunderstand, or was there also a "Tai Pak" in Aberdeen harbor also?

Tai Pak floating restaurant, Castle Peak-1975

The floating restaurant can just be seen nestled in the corner lower right hand side. Most of this area of water has since been reclaimed and built on.

The art-deco Boys Home can just be seen situated on the slope behind the timber yard buildings on the foreshore

Tai Pak floating restaurant, Castle Peak 1960s

The white arc-deco building in the left background is still there. It was used as a Boy's Home in the 1990s. In the 1980s a floating restaurant type vessel was moored out in Castle Peak Bay with two large 7Up advertising logos on it. I believe it was used as a fishermen's community centre as well as some sort of restaurant.

The Dragon Inn (容龍別墅), 19.5 milestone, Castle Peak Road [1939-1989]

Date Place completed:
1939-12-31
Date Place demolished:
c.1989-12-31 (Month, Day are approximate)

The tag is just an approximate location.  I have not been to that location for nearly forty years so it practically a blank to me.
