First tram depot of Hongkong Tramways.

From the PWD report for 1903

Good progress was made with the erection of the Company’s Power Station and Car Depot on the east side of Bowrington Canal.

The depot was surely ready with opening of the tram in mid-1904.

Industrial heritage in Hong Kong

I am putting together a list of past industrial sites (and some present ones) in Hong Kong, with links to the relevant Gwulo pages (or if there is no dedicated Gwulo page for them yet, Public Works Department Annual Reports). There is already a very comprehensive list on the Industrial History of Hong Kong website - my list is just trying to group together relevant Gwulo pages and PWD sources.  For now, I have not included sites such as godowns, wharves, piers, electricity substations, etc as they are so numerous that it would be a time-consuming task.

Mei Foo airview 1973

Mei Foo Sun Chuen first to third phase have been finished.

In between, some tanks of the former Mobil Oil Tank Farm seem to have survived.

The long building on the right was the KMB bus depot maintenance and parking depot. Right of it is a small basin, also visible on the photo from 1968. This was reclaimed in the following years. To the very right a bit of the Lai Chi Kok government incinerator is visible.

Once upon a time - Hong Kong - Sharp Street

Text on Flickr:

Another long gone tramway housing; the Sharp Street depot situated on hot property and sold to be turned into a mall. Later in time some wall anchors carrying the catenary were still in place as a sweet reminder. Coincidentally (or not) but during my first Hong Kong visit the hotel was right next to the depot entrance and I didn't dare to sleep before seeing the last tram of the day entering his bed.
