Naval Dockyard Police 1948 - European contingent

From records of the Naval Dockyard Police Provident Association comes this list of the Europeans working in this Force in 1948.  Two names in some cases - these men appear on a separate list of officers of the Association  The terms of the Association allowed all ranks to join but there are no indications of rank on the 1948 list.  I have marked with a asterix and given the rank of men listed in Tony Banham's War Diary site as Naval Dockyard Police.

Dear All,

Where: I'm curious to know where the photographer stood to take this photo. The buildings in the foreground will help us work that out.

The building closest to the camera is the one with three domes decorating the front of it.

Building with domes

I don't recognise that building, but the group at the bottom of the hill are more familiar. This terrace of buildings was near the start of Queen's Road East.

HIDDEN SECRETS OF REPLACEMENT MEDALS

By John Wright

Many collectors may be unimpressed when they here of replacement medals being issued. However, after an interesting research project on the group to Lt Col F.D. Field, OBE, MC, (Royal Artillery), I decided to find out more on the subject.

WELCOME TO HONG KONG

This first appeared in issue #2 of 'History Notes', compiled by the late Phillip Bruce. It is reproduced here on Gwulo by kind permission of Mr Bruce's family.

"Today, about noon, a disgraceful affair happened at Pedder's Wharf, which should go a long way to assure a more effectual police arrangement for that quarter.
