Silvermine Bay Jetty [1951-1963]

Date Place completed:
c.1951-04-01 (Day is approximate)
Date Place demolished:
c.1963-01-01 (Month, Day are approximate)

The name can be found on the 1957 map on hkmaps.hk.

Public Works Report for 1951 refers:

In the spring a 400-foot Government pier was constructed at Silver Mine Bay on Lantao Island, this improvement being primarily responsible for the noticeable increase in holiday traffic on this run. It is expected that the comparative ease of travel between Hong Kong and the eastern end of Lantao Island will induce more people to settle in this beautiful part of the Colony.

Kwong Wing Wharf [c.1924-c.1958]

Date Place completed:
c.1924-01-01 (Year, Month, Day are approximate)
Date Place demolished:
c.1958-01-01 (Year, Month, Day are approximate)

Was situated on Connaught Road opposite to the Sincere Department Store. This pier appears first on an aerial photo from 1924 (hkmaps.hk). Probably a pier for Canton or Macau steamers. Was demolished during the 1950s reclamation, date set to 1958.

1954 Central waterfront

On Flickr the date is given as 1961, but it's earlier.

The buildings on the left are at 15-23, Connaught Road. They are nine ones, eight are visible. Three houses in the centre were demolished around 1955 and replaced by Fung House in 1956/7.

When you look at the houses in the centre, you look through the upper floor as if the roof has been removed already.
So the date is before that, likely 1954 as the building of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce is already there (opened in 1954).

Date Place completed:
c.1870-01-01 (Year, Month, Day are approximate)
Date Place demolished:
c.1910-01-01 (Year, Month, Day are approximate)

Pier located east of Spring Garden Lane at the praya (today Johnston Road), about where todays Southorn Stadium is located.

A photo from around 1870 shows the T-shaped pier. Two more piers are visible, they look quite fragile.

The Hongkong Government Gazette from 1874-01-24 reports that the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company asked for permission to erect a pier opposite Marine Lots Nos 71, 71a, 72, 72a.

The 1889 map on hkmaps.hk shows ML 71 between Queen's Road, (todays) Ko Shing Street - praya in 1874, Sutherland Street and (todays) Li Sing Street. On this map, a large pier is shown.
