Po Wah Theatre

Po Wah Theatre, most likely its second generation in Tai Po.  The date of the photo was estimated to be late 1960s, and was from the train track looking north.  At a distance are the 6-storey buildings on Kwong Fuk Road which still stand today.

New Kowloon Cinema Theatre - Location by Photos

New Kowloon Cinema Theatre, and its neighbours.  One of the photos was taken when the theatre was still operating as shown with people gathering outside.  The direction of the flow in the nullah is from top to bottom on this photo.

New Kowloon Cinema Theatre - Next to Kai Tak Nullah

New Kowloon Cinema Theatre.  This photo shows the theatre's neighbours and its location relative to a major landmark that still exists today - the runway built on water.

A part of the nullah can be seen on the right of the photo with its flow direction to the sea and alignment parallel to the runway.  The theatre was located by the nullah roughly 100 feet or 30 metres beyond the photo's edge.  The date of the photo is estimated to be mid-1950s.

Kam Tin Theatre

Kam Tin Theatre.  While the sign is difficult to read, questionable street number and the curvature of the road, there is enough visual evidence that it was Kam Tin Theatre.   Several exterior features of the theatre match those of a building still standing today.  It is the Wellcome (correct spelling) Supermarket on the northeast corner of Kam Tin Road and Tai Hong Wai.

The former Imperial Cinema

The Imperial Cinema in Wanchai which opened to business in 1969 and closed in 2003,had been interally rebuilt as a church.

Merryland Theatre - with exterior sign

Merryland Theatre.  Since several retired/demolished theatres had similar corner appearance, the exterior sign in this photo gives positive identification.  The posters on the outside show the theatre was still operating, but it appears it was on its way out.
