Golden City Theatre - 1956 Sold for Development

Golden City Theatre - news article on its Sale for redevelopment - September 7, 1956

Five years after its opening, the theatre was sold for redevelopment,  buiding, seats, equipments including I think the kitchen sink.  Briefly some highlights in the article: appraised at about HK $1 million, it was scooped up by a bidder in three minutes for $ 1.31M the only bid;  land area 13,742 sq ft; buyer to acknowlege rights of current tenants to continue to use other areas.

Central Cinema (Victoria) [????-????]

Central Cinema's location appears on the 1945 Map of Hong Kong and Kowloon - https://gwulo.com/node/38765#14/22.3130/114.1806/Map_by_ESRI-1945_HK+Kln... .  On the map, it is Key #8 in the Victoria district at "334 Queen's Road Central"**, on the south side of Queen's Road between Morrison and Cleverly.  The current occupant is Midland Centre.

Golden City Theatre (Wan Chai) / 金城戲院 (1951-58); and the photo was taken in 1951 its first year of operation.  Luk Kwok Hotel / 六國 is on the right side of the theatre looking from the water.

Junction of Nathan and Kimberley Roads

On Flickr atrributed to the junction of Austin and Nathan Roads, but this one shows the junction of Nathan and Kimberley Roads. The rounded building is Princess Theatre, the left one is Miramar Hotel. The movie showing was released 1960-12-23, so the date is ok.

Yik Chi Theatre, Tiu Keng Leng

Yik Chi Theatre, Tiu Keng Leng.  Considering the opened windows and movie posters on the wall, the theatre was likely still operating at the time of this photo.  However, my second thought is that the posters are old, and upstairs have been converted to living quarters.
