Lindsay Ride: "V V Illin, late of the Hongkong Police, was serving under my command in the BAAG in China during the war, and was killed in an airoplane accident in Kunming in December 1944 whilst takiing off on a secret operation.  His body was identified by one of my officers and he was buried in Kunming, butr since the war his body has been brought to Hongkong for re-interment".

  Re-interred at  Saiwan Bay Military Cemetery, Hongkong.
