This undated photo of Anna Joaquina (Belle) Reed and Maria Rita (da Silva) Reed was probably taken the year Belle married Wilfred Alexander (Willie) Reed on August 21, 1939. They are pictured outside the family home at 8 Broadwood Road, Hong Kong.

Amaro and Maria Rita Reed welcomed their first son, Robert Cyril Reed, on March 18, 1903.  Bobby appears to be between one and two years of age in this photo, so I originally dated the photo as being in 1905.  However, I note that Edgar, the second son, was born on January 11, 1905, so have changed the date of this photo to 1904 and assume it was taken later that year.

This photo of the Reed family at their home on Broadwood Road was undated. My cousin Mary (Reed) Engesser and I determined the year to be 1918 based on what appears to be the approximate ages of the brothers in the photo.  As a reference, the brothers, from the eldest to the youngest, are Bobby Reed, Edgar Reed, Willie Reed, Arthur Reed, Stephen Reed, Francis Reed and Reggie Reed.

In the above photo, first row from left: Francis, father Amaro John Reed, Reggie, mother Maria Rita Reed and Stephen.  Middle row from left: Edgar, Willie and Bobby. At the top, Arthur.

Willie Reed in the Early Fifties

This is one of my favorite photos of my father Willie Reed wearing his favorite tweed sports jacket.  I am guessing this photo was taken in the early fifties or even late forties.  I am wondering if anyone recognizes the scenery behind Willie to determine the location.

Wilfred "Willie" Reed first took up the sport of hockey while studying at St. George's College in Weybridge, Surrey, with his two older brothers, Robert and Edgar.  Willie worked at the sport for nine years, eventually representing St. George's, and then being selected to represent Middlesex County, along with his brother Edgar. Willie played centre-half in his first county match in 1928. In the above Middlesex hockey team photo, Willie is seated at the far right, with his brother Edgar standing directly behind him.
