And here's another shot of Solar Star. Don't know the date.

The high funnel makes me think it is steam powered, (I think the newer ones are diesel)

What: The 'Solar Star', one of the Star Ferries.

Who: People heading across the harbour to Kowloon. Today we can take the MTR or a cross-harbour tunnel bus, but in the 1950s a boat was your only option.

Where: On the right of the photo we can just see the

I already posted this same photo, but this is a newly digitized scan of the old negative I just had done-the results are dramatically better than the printer scans of the old photos I had been doing-I'm going to send out a lot of my old photos for "freshening up"

Where HK island is just a blur in the old photo scan, this one is quite sharp and clear-note the Peak terminal just under the eaves of the Star Ferry building. This photo was taken in July of 1972

I took this in early July,1972, from the Kowloon terminal of the Star Ferry, which you can see to the left. That view has certainly changed radically in the intervening years,hasn't it?
