TWGHs Primary School [1958- ]

Date Place completed:
1958-07-01

Hi there,

The Date is just a guess.  The school website (unfortunately only in Chinese) just stated 1958 with no specific date.  The school was originally called TWGHs The Third Primary School (東華三院皇后大道東第三小學) on Hong Kong Island.  It was rename to TWGHs Li Chi Ho Primary School (東華三院李賜豪小學) in 1971.

ARP Portal 068 atop Wanchai Road, and under Ruttonjee Hospital, Wanchai [????- ]

Hi there,

Recently two commercial buildings in Wanchai Road had been demolished.  An ARP Portal could now be seen right up on the slope, under Ruttunjee Hospital.  Go and take a look before constructions begin.  I will try to snap a few photos next time I walk around there.

Best Regards,

Liberty Bar, Wanchai, July 1958

Image (external):

I've compared this to the few, later photos I have, and I think it is the northeast corner of Lockhart and Luard Roads. If it is not, please correct me. At any rate, a rare view of a Wanchai bar from just after "The World of Suzie Wong" was written, but before the Movie was filmed.

Fenwick Pier [????- ]

Before 1997, this pier is primarily being used by visiting foreign service men.  I remember the Mac Yuck there is the only one serving Beer in town.  I would have to go and check this out and see if the pier had already be reclaimed later.
