This is a 1862 Map of Hong Kong.

I found it in the Basel Mission Monthly "Der Evangelische Heidenbote", Nr. 11 - 1862; p. 105

An early view of Queen's Road. The precise location is established by the ''Star Seamans Coffee House'' signboard pointing to D'Aguilar Street, on the left. The view is towards west. Hong Kong Dispensary is in the building with covered archways, on the left. The street is busy with pedestrians and rickshaws.

"Museum of history: Queen's Road Central, Central District, Hong Kong Island, c.1875-80.

An early view of Queen's Road looking west. The location is slightly west of D'Aguilar Street. A very quiet day, with very few pedestrians seen on the street, and sedan chairs waiting idly on the pavement without customers. Absence of rickshaws helps to date the picture."

They record it as "Panorama of Hong Kong Harbour.", dated to the 1860s. In the comments below you'll see it has since been dated to the 1870s.

The last of three images of Hong Kong from the Royal Photograph Gallery, introduced by John Clark Ridpath and published in New York in June 1893. The publisher's aim was "to select and preserve the best" photographic materials and "to reproduce... the most striking aspects of the natural world and the highest and most beautiful works of man."

This substantial volume of more than 460 pages was almost certainly a wedding gift to my great-grandparents Henry Fine Chong (Cheng Fan Chong) and Lily May Ah Poo, who were married in Parramatta, NSW, in June 1896.
