Query on Pottinger's Map 1842

Hi there,

This is a question about possession point.I want to ask, does anyone know what do the number refer to on the pottinger's map 1842 ?

When I try to locate where possession point was on the map, there is some possible locations like numer 14 and 44 on the map, but I think this will be better to check out the real legend.

1904-1906 Ladies' addresses in Caine Road

I've had another look at the Hong Kong Ladies Directories published in the South China Directory for 1904-1906, which are the only numbers accessible to me in London. In case it helps with matching information given in other lists, here are the only names and numbers given for Caine Road. I’m sure it's common knowledge that there's a separate Peak Directory and a list of Foreign Residents – also an alphabetical record of companies and their staff in the South China Directory.

Tsuen Wan history

by Bernard Chan

From plow to din of modern day

Tsuen Wan today is a bustling district north of western Kowloon. It was Hong Kong's first satellite town, which is why it is simultaneously in both the New Territories and the urban area.

Originally, however, Tsuen Wan and Kwai Chung were Hakka farming areas.

With help from the Hong Kong Jockey Club, heritage group Hulu Culture has organized a series of activities highlighting the history of the area.

Pirates operating out of Cheung Chau Or Lantau

Good morning David.

There has been much written about the Taipa based pirates but I am led to believe that there may have been bases located around Hong Kong.

Can you help out.

All the best.

Please help - looking for old photos of the Central Police Station compound

I’m looking for old images (photos, sketches, paintings, newspaper engravings, etc) that can bring to life the history of the Central Police Station (CPS) compound, its surroundings, and the people who were there - whether voluntarily or not!

Glenealy Junior School (temporary premises) [1982-1989]

Glenealy Junior School was in temporary premises between 1982 and 1989 whilst their school in Hornsey Road was rebuilt.

In 1982 they moved to the old Victoria Primary School in Victoria Barracks. My eldest daughter started Form1 there in 1984 and my youngest daughter a year later.

Life of British Pre-WW2

Hi,

I am interested in learning more about life pre-WW2 (1930s- mostly directly before the war) for British citizens living in Hong Kong. Anything and everything living areas, racial issues, social activites, employment, education. I understand that much information was lost but I would like to find what I can. I am doing research for an article.

Thank you
