As far as I can make out the inscription, it reads:

Happy Valley Graves

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1918

This is a fairly recent picture of the grave of Jons Jakobsson aka John Olson. I have an original in the family archives. This is in Section 16B in Grave 8284. His wife Ching Ah Fung is buried nearby in Grave 8119. John died in 1918 and his wife died in 1915. I have archive pictures and a fairly recent picture of Ching Ah Fung's grave which says: In Loving Memory of Ellen Olson  who died 20th October 1915 aged 61  years.

John also buried two brothers Anders and Olaf in the Happy Valley Cemetery.

Plaque in memory of my grandmother

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1966

The pictures here show the then Anglican archbishop of Hong Kong unveiling a plaque to my grandmother Annie Louisa Olson on land donated to St Christopher's Home for boys by my family in 1966.

It now seems that the Anglican authorities do not have any knowledge of the plaque or its whereabouts as they say the land was swapped with other land to allow for road building in the area. However, another story is that the land where the plaque is shown became part of a private gated community.

Johnson

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1920

This picure is inscribed on the back "Your old pal Geo Johson taken in C.P.S. Offices". CPS I think stands for Candadian Pacific Steamship in Vancouver. There is mention of a man named Johnson in family papers in connection with the various Empress ships that plied the Pacific passenger trade which I know they used for numerous trips.

Any information greatfully received,

Sean

Building

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):

This may be just another tourist picture but I wonder if it is the start of a building project somewhere in HK? Any ideas welcome. Found in the family archives again.

Thanks,

Sean

Came across this in family pictures. Just wonder if anybody can identify it or tell me if it has any significance other than being a tourist shot.

Thanks,

Sean

Unknown man

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1910

This is another picture from my family archive. The man might be my great grandfather but I am not sure. Does anybody think the picture is Hong Kong? If not it is definitely not him. No idea of date or anything like that. Assume early 1900s.

Thanks,

Sean

Possibly Canton or Macao connection

These three pictures come from the same set of recently identified pictures of Canton and Macao. I wonder if there is anything to be said of them by way of identification. I can opload them individually is required.

Thanks,

Sean

Guns

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):

More pictures from family archive. Are these of interest to HK military specialists or are they from elsewhere?

Seems most likely to me that they were taken in HK in First World War.

Thanks,

Sean
