Identifying the doors / window shutter

Can anyone help with identifying this wooden door. I bought it in Hong Kong before the handover and always wondered about Mr. C. U. Chan (why is there an umlat?) and what he did. I would also like to know what the writing says. I really love it!

HQLF Hong Kong 1950s

I am trying to discover more about why my husband, who served in the army in Hong Kong as a national serviceman in the 1950s,  had had to sign the Official Secrets Act, and what it was that went on in HQLF at that time.  I believe that the work was connected with coded messages sent across the border from,  what was then known as 'red', China,  my husband never told me exactly what it was that they did but I believe that he was posted there because of his skill at mathematics and logic and problem solving so that would make sense.&nb

Fan Garden and Dodwells Ridge

Recently I came across names of 2 camps near Fanling.  Googling them bring up very few entries which are military related.  The 2 camps are "Fan Garden" and "Dodwells Ridge".  Both are mentioned in this post:

I would like to visit the sites for these old camps and see what is left of them but I've not been able to find the precise locations for these camps.

Does anyone know where these camps used to be located?

Kwong Yee Loong - General Store- Kowloon 1930-60s?

Can some one give me a history of this business that was around maybe up to mid 1960s. I'm sure it was in Kowloon. My parents lived in New Zealand, and I remember Mum sending us to the Post Office in NZ to purchase Postal Orders. Once she had enough, she would send away for Hong Kong jackets, possibly Chinese Mushrooms and dried shrimp. Always a red letter day when the package arrived in NZ.

Chinese restaurant in the 1940s

Does anyone have any info on a Chinese restaurant called 金城酒 in the 1940s? Did it have an English name?

Thanks,

Jane.

Old Houses of Hong Kong

I just did a blog which has links at the end for the two latest postings I have done relating to Old Houses of Hong Kong. SEE: http://sharonoddiebrown.blogspot.com/2011/02/in-defence-of-not-knowing.html
There will likely be a few errors, or things that should be added. I am all ears if anyone wants to set me straight.
