Eligibility for UK Awards, Decorations and Honours including medals for WW2 Veterans and ARP

Good afternoon (Canberra time) David,

In researching material for a publication on Australian citizens that fought on behalf of the Allies against the Japanese in WW2 in mainland China and SE Asia including HK, I had difficulty finding any reference to the eligibility criteria for awards, decorations, honours and medals particularly relating to the gallant men and women in their role as defenders in the defence HK during WW2.

the date given is c1950

the author notes the grave in the centre of the photo is Lance Bombardier Richard Yould - who was buried 1930, so it could be pre-war

Far East Farm Camp [1949-????]

Seems to have been used post WWII, especially during Korean War. Location from a mapsite; certainly was around Castle Peak area

Homantin Hill Road-Military family housing quarters

This block stood on Homantin Hill Road above Homantin Street. The white sign-board at the fence-line denoted it as UK Ministry of Defence property. It is thought to have been the location of RAF Homantin just after the war. Rumour had it that it was the scene of many Japanese atrocities during the war and the building and grounds were haunted.

Better Ole restaurant and bar-Fanling

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1978
Places shown in this photo:

The Better Ole was a favourite watering place for those exploring the northern New Territories, the military from nearby camps and senior civil servants on their mid-week inspection rounds.  Many a congenial afternoon merged into evening here, despite best intentions. A reincarnation of the Better Ole moved to central Tai Po in the 1990s soley as a restaurant. IDJ

Colonial Pomp 1950s

Part of a wonderful series of photos documenting life viewed from the Peak in Hong Kong immediately post-war to the Fifties. Anyone able to identify the occasion? am guessing it's part of Queen Elizabeth Coronation in 1953, given the other photos depicting the parade.
